I got the following error while trying to install pyaudio using pip3 in ubuntu 16.04:

This should help

$ sudo apt-get install portaudio19-dev python-pyaudio python3-pyaudio

Tested on Ubuntu 18.04, Python 3.7.2, pyaudio 0.2.11
