I am trying to run an application I installed from github.
However, when I do run it I continuously get the following MacOS exception:
<application> cannot be opened because the developer cannot be verified.
macOS cannot verify that this app is free from malware
Then it gives me 2 options:
1) Move to Trash
2) Cancel
How do I disable this feature that is built into MacOS (10.15.2 (19C57)).
In my prior MacOS version (cant remember which) I had no problems running applications I installed/downloaded from github.
The current MacOS won't even give me an option to override the security feature so I can run the application.
I don't care for this MacOS security feature. I want to disable it so I run programs that I install myself.
The application WADark
that I am trying to run is NOT malware.
I've added a screenshot for your reference.
UPDATE***:
In the Security & Privacy Tab there isn't an option to Open Anyway
which is described on Apple's support website here Open Anyway
I also have a problem opening the Chromium Browser
, which use to launch fine prior to MacOS Catalina (see screenshot that complains about Chromium). And right-clicking
the Chromium Browser
app and then selecting Open
still does not launch the app - I get the same Error/Exception. It too is NOT malware.
After you see the dialog box with Move to trash
and Cancel
:
Click Cancel
or OK
on newer versions of MacOS
Open up System Preferences
Go to Security and Privacy -> General
There will be a message about the program that was blocked, with the option to Open Anyway
