I am developing Spring Batch- MultiResourceItemReader & HibernateItemWriter example. I am able to successfully compile the code, but when trying to run it I see following error is comming, not sure what is going wrong here.

Exception in thread "main" org.springframework.beans.factory.parsing.BeanDefinitionParsingException: Configuration problem: Failed to import bean definitions from URL location [classpath:context-model.xml]

Simply use this. I like Spring Batch. Hope this will work nicely.

<springframework.version>4.2.4.RELEASE</springframework.version>
<dependency>
    <groupId>org.springframework</groupId>
    <artifactId>spring-web</artifactId>
    <version>${springframework.version}</version>
</dependency>

Or you can use latest versions like below

<properties>
        <java.version>1.8</java.version>
        <springframework.version>4.2.4.RELEASE</springframework.version>
        <!-- <springbatch.version>3.0.1.RELEASE</springbatch.version> -->
        <springbatch.version>3.0.6.RELEASE</springbatch.version>
        <hibernate.version>4.3.6.Final</hibernate.version>
        <!-- <hibernate.version>4.3.11.Final</hibernate.version> -->
        <javassist.version>3.18.1-GA</javassist.version>
        <!-- <javassist.version>3.20.0-GA</javassist.version> -->
        <mysql.version>5.1.31</mysql.version>
        <joda-time.version>2.3</joda-time.version>
